workplace needs assessments

empowering neurodivergent talent to thrive

A Work-Based Assessment is a collaborative, structured evaluation designed to identify any unique challenges an employee may be facing in their role.

Focusing specifically on the needs of neurodivergent and disabled professionals, the goal of this assessment is to understand how an individual works best and to recommend practical, tailored support strategies and reasonable adjustments. You do not need a formal diagnosis to undertake an assessment.

Whether you are an employer wanting to support your team, an employee looking for the right tools to succeed, or a self-employed professional seeking ways to optimise your workflow, a work-based assessment is the first step toward a more accessible and efficient working life.

The Benefits of Getting Assessed

For Employees & Individuals:

  • Empowerment: Ensures your unique needs are recognised and met, giving you the tools to perform at your best.

  • Job Satisfaction: Reduces daily friction and workplace anxiety, leading to a much more positive and fulfilling work experience.

  • Self-Employed Support: Helps independent professionals identify personal workflow challenges and implement effective, neuro-inclusive solutions.

For Employers & Organisations:

  • Boost Productivity: When employees have the right adjustments in place, efficiency and team dynamics naturally improve.

  • Build an Inclusive Culture: Demonstrates a tangible commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring all staff feel respected, understood, and valued.

  • Improve Retention: Supported employees are happy employees, reducing staff turnover and boosting overall team morale.

How the Process Works

I believe in a thorough, transparent, and stress-free approach that focuses on solutions, not diagnoses. Here is what you can expect when you book an assessment with me:

1. Assessment Preparation Before we meet, I need to understand the context.

  • Employee Questionnaire: A simple form to capture the individual's experiences, strengths, and any previous support they have had.

  • Line Manager Questionnaire: Provides essential context about the specific job role, daily expectations, and company processes.

  • Preparation: I review all submitted information and research any specific workplace challenges to create a tailored assessment plan.

2. The Assessment Conducted virtually (or in-person by arrangement), this is a conversational assessment focused on the individual's specific day-to-day work reality—no daunting tests or paperwork.

  • Manager Discussion: A brief (up to 30 mins) discussion with the line manager to align expectations.

  • Employee Consultation: An in-depth conversation with the employee (split across sessions if needed) to discuss their role, the barriers they face, and potential solutions.

  • Tool Demonstrations: Where applicable, I will demonstrate recommended assistive technology or software so the employee can see how it works in real-time.

3. Actionable Reporting

  • Draft Review: The employee receives a draft of the report first, ensuring they are comfortable with how their needs are represented.

  • Final Report (Within 10 working days): A detailed, easy-to-read report identifying practical reasonable adjustments, tailored support strategies, supplier details, and cost estimates.

  • Manager Debrief: A follow-up session with the line manager to discuss the final report and confidently plan how to put the strategies into action.

4. Follow-Up & Review (Optional) Adjustments aren't always a "set it and forget it" solution. I offer follow-up support to ensure the recommendations are actually working.

  • 6-Week Review: To check that the adjustments have been successfully implemented and are helping to remove barriers.

  • 6-Month Review: A longer-term evaluation to check the effectiveness of the adjustments and recommend further improvements if the role has evolved.

Why Work With Me?

  • Individual-Led Approach: There is no one-size-fits-all. Every assessment is deeply tailored to the specific needs of the neurodivergent individual.

  • Lived & Learned Expertise: I bring specialised insight into neurodiversity and disability inclusion, translating complex challenges into clear solutions.

  • Practical Recommendations: You won’t just get a list of problems; you will receive a report filled with actionable, easy-to-implement adjustments that make a real difference.

  • Flexible Delivery: Assessments can be carried out virtually or on-site to suit your preferences and comfort levels.
